Premier Letting Agents in City London EC4
Letting Agents in City London EC4
Area Comments
The largest finance centre in Europe offers a limited selection of property, and what is here is exclusive and geared for the very upwardly mobile professional - because most people who live in the City live to work.
Of course most property here is commercial, but the number of residential offerings may surprise. Residential property in the City falls almost invariably into the apartment bracket, as industrial and commercial buildings have been smartly converted to provide homes or pied a terre for the extremely well paid professionals in the area, partly owing to the impetus from central government to develop brownfield and inner city areas. With long days and great nightlife in plenty, it's no wonder that City professionals, from the Lawyers who make their bases in the Temple area to the traders and hedge fund managers further east, are more and more looking to their immediate surroundings for a place to sleep rather than a long commute - but places are still rare and ferociously sought after.
From the Temple and Fleet St in the West through to the City proper in the East there are surprising numbers of apartments available, though most of these tend to be found in the West of the area (one of the few places in London where West is cheaper than East). Areas around Whitefriars Street and St Bride's Church are popular here, as are Temple Lane. Wending towards Fleet St, excellent apartments are found on Fetter Lane and Printers Inn Court. In the East, seriously desirable apartments looking over the river can be found if you look hard - and long - enough.
Facilities in the City cater brilliantly to its core population (day and night) of busy, highly paid professionals. There are few open spaces, and those that do exist are mostly centred on the area's wonderful churches, some of the oldest in London. The legal areas around Lincoln's Inn also provide beautiful open courts. The maze of streets around the City has a deeply historical feel, however, and the bars, pubs and restaurants tucked away in corners and under bridges and through narrow alleys are often a treasure-trove. Gyms and health clubs are also to be found in profusion.
The City is a particular choice to live in, suitable to professionals and to couples who need to live in this high-octane end of London. Anyone looking to buy here is after a high-powered and low-fuss solution to resting their head and the apartments here, more numerous than you'd think, offer them a convenient - though highly sought after - answer.
