London River Park recognised in planning competition
A design for a new mile-long floating walk on the bank of the river Thames has received the Mayor's Award for Planning Excellence, which may interest those looking for flats to rent in the City of London.
The London River Park was designed by international architecture firm Gensler as part of the celebrations for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and will connect Blackfriars Bridge with the Tower of London.
Included in the design is five large themed pavilions which can be used to host large events and will feature new ferry terminals and mooring facilities, leaving a legacy for those in flats to rent in the City of London.
The design for the river park was recognised in the London Planning Awards, which are jointly run by Mayor Boris Johnson, London First, the Royal Town Planning Institute and London Councils.
Mr Johnson commented: "The brilliance of this design, apart from its sheer beauty, is that it will act as a fantastic catalyst for rejuvenating the Thames as a major transport artery."
Last month, the City of London Corporation announced that work will start on a project to regenerate Wanstead Park in Epping Forest, after Chris Blandford Associates was appointed to the planning team.
