New campaign aimed at improving road safety
Road safety in London could be set to improve as a result of a new advertising campaign.
The government has invested more than £3 million in its latest THINK! initiative, which is designed to make motorists aware of the potential consequences of speeding.
Chair of the London Safety Camera Partnership Commander Shabir Hussain welcomed the move, stating: "Many people deem it unacceptable for others to speed in their local area, whilst they themselves admit to breaking the speed limit on other roads."
The 'Kill your speed, or live with it' campaign will feature radio and online advertising.
In addition, a television advert will show a man who has killed a child by speeding being tormented by the memory, as he sees the body in his bathroom mirror, as well as through the window of a bus and in a park while with his own son.
Last month police held an awareness day in the City of London, with the aim of improving road safety for cyclists by educating them about the risk of collisions with lorries.
