Maltese investors look to property for rent in London
Britons considering investing in property for rent in London might like to know that the city's housing stock is attracting interest from overseas.
English-speaking island community Malta has property for rent in London firmly in its sights as an investment opportunity, reports the Times of Malta.
The news comes as Stephen Yorke of Douglas & Gordon Investment Management heads to the island to speak with residents about the city's potential.
According to the news provider, he cites the cost of owning property in the city as a driving force behind why investors might look to buy into a real estate-linked fund based in London instead.
The same reason could spur many to look to flats for rent in London, rather than buying a property to use as their own home.
For Maltese investors, the exchange rate with the euro is also currently making the city's housing a lucrative investment.
Individuals and families looking for flats to rent in London may wish to do so with haste, as figures from the National House-Building Council show a 62 per cent drop in construction of new homes in the city between March to May of 2008 and the same period in 2009.
