Property in London to be 'decorated by trees'
Residents of property in London have been given a further chance to enhance the streets where they live.
The capital's Mayor Boris Johnson has this week expanded his street tree programme, which allows people living in the city to make a request for trees to be planted outside their homes.
Some 40 areas across 32 London boroughs will benefit from the initiative, which urges people to take green issues into the own hands.
A total of 20 priority locations have already been identified, and planting has begun in these areas.
Mr Johnson said: "Street trees are an uplifting addition to our communities and I am determined to reverse their decline."
People living in property in London can make their requests for trees via the internet, he added.
Earlier this month, the mayor announced he would be pledging £3 million to develop ten flagship Low Carbon Zones in the capital, which aim to cut carbon emissions, create jobs and reduce energy bills.
