People in flats to rent in London 'could benefit from free schools'
People living in flats to rent in the London borough of Hammersmith & Fulham may be able to take advantage of 'free schools'.
The government has announced two of the 16 institutions, which are free from local authority control and follow their own curriculum, being introduced in the UK will be situated in the area.
There is also potential for a third free school to be located in the borough.
Education secretary Michael Gove said: "The enthusiasm of London's teachers, parents and community groups for starting schools is inspiring. These are just the first and I know there will be more to come."
Burlington primary in White City and the Rivendale Free School, which will be located in Shepherds Bush, have been given approval and are moving into the next stage of the application process.
Charities, businesses and parents are all eligible to submit plans to create a free school if they wish.
Elsewhere, officers from Safer Neighbourhoods Teams are visiting homes in the area in an attempt to create better relations between police and the local community.
