Lords' redevelopment moves a step closer
Lords' Cricket Ground could be a step closer in its plans to make the site a popular attraction for cricket fans and residents alike.
The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has appointed estate adviser Cushman and Wakefield to find a development partner for its grand redesign of the St John's Wood site.
Capacity of the stadium will be increased to accommodate nearly 40,000 spectators and a Lords' Museum will be erected. In the project is room for retail opportunities and an exhibition space.
A report in the Times suggests that the MCC is looking to speed up the process by advertising in newspapers across the world for wealthy investors to help fund its £400 million plan.
It is also thought that the ground's custodians do not want the redevelopment to be delayed in a similar way to Wembley Stadium which was completed a more than a year behind schedule.
Redevelopment will begin after the 2012 Olympics' archery competition which will be staged on the outfield.
Redevelopment of one of the capital's most recognisable sporting attractions may attract more people to look for property to rent in the London borough of City of Westminster.
