Finalists chosen for redesign of Croydon centre
A major regeneration project in Croydon is continuing with the selection of four finalists to redesign the borough's centre.
Those renting a house or flat in the area are set to benefit as a result of the Third City project, which is intended to make Croydon comparable to the City of Westminster and City of London boroughs.
Changes to the Wellesley Road and Park Lane area are part of the plans and a competition was launched in October to find an architectural firm to create the designs.
Commenting on the announcement of the four finalists, Croydon Council cabinet member for regeneration Steve O'Connell said: "The initial response to the competition has been highly impressive and gives us confidence that a truly imaginative and practical solution will emerge."
A public-private urban regeneration partnership was recently established between the council and John Laing and a total of £450 million is to be invested.
