Redevelopment of Wandsworth school and college begins
Redevelopment of a school and a college close to property to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth has commenced.
Groundbreaking ceremonies took place yesterday (May 17th) at Southfields Community College and Burntwood Secondary School.
The two educational establishments are to be transformed using an investment totalling more than £70 million.
Both of the projects are scheduled to be completed in 2014.
Councillor Kathy Tracey, Wandsworth Council's education spokesperson, said: "It's an honour and a delight to break the ground on these exciting schemes. Thank you to all of our partners for their hard work in putting together these outstanding designs."
She went on to say that the schools will be unrecognisable by the time the redevelopments have finished.
This weekend, a concert by the Wandsworth City Learning Centre's Digital Orchestra is to take place at Beatrix Potter Primary School.
It will feature a mixture of music, performance and digital technology and is part of the Wandsworth Arts Festival.
