£450m regeneration plan for Croydon
People choosing to live in the London borough of Croydon are set to benefit from a major regeneration scheme.
A public private urban regeneration partnership has been established between the council and John Laing, with £450 million set to be invested.
Two 40-storey tower blocks are to be erected, as well as housing and 20,000 sq ft of retail space.
The council is also to build a 240,000 sq ft headquarters in the town centre.
Anthony Middleton, director of regeneration and infrastructure at Croydon Council, said that the partnership "will deliver sustainable facilities to benefit the entire community, supporting its ambitions to become London's third city".
Last month Metrobus staff in Croydon were recognised for the high quality of service that people living in the borough receive.
The award was given by Transport for London, which stated that the Croydon Service Quality Team had "consistently" beaten performance targets.
