'Elasticity' provided by property to rent in Wandsworth
property to rent in Wandsworth has provided the elasticity needed for one London family to make a move to the country, it has emerged.
The Telegraph reports the Godwin-Browns' story after the slump in property values left them unable to sell their Wandsworth home.
However, they instead opted to add it to the available property to rent in Wandsworth, enabling them to move to the country while would-be city-dwellers moved into their former home.
The publication notes that good tenants were found for their London property and that, while they still plan to sell, it may be some time before they do so.
"Renting is the new elastic in the market," writes The Telegraph's Caroline McGhie.
"It is no longer the preserve of the can't-haves and students, but is being favoured by families, job movers and young executives."
Meanwhile, Wandsworth's desirability as a place to live was given a boost recently as the area's council published an end-of-year report showing improvements in recycling rates and reduced crime.
