Rail improvements for London residents
People living in Islington and Camden are set to benefit from improvements to rail services.
Transport secretary Geoff Hoon has announced that £54 million of funding will be made available to improve the London Overground network - increasing the number of tracks in the Camden area from two to four.
And Transport for London (TFL) has welcomed the move, with managing director of London Rail Ian Brown stating: "It will bring greater capacity on a strategic North London route which must carry both passenger and freight services."
The funding will add to the £326 million investment TFL has made, which includes the extension of tracks in the Caledonian Road area of Islington.
Those renting a house or flat in the borough are set to benefit from eight passenger trains per hour in peak times between Stratford and Camden Road.
Last week rail minister Andrew Adonis revealed that a new shuttle bus service would link rail stations with the new Stratford International Station.
