Free training for Tower Hamlets youngsters
Young people in Tower Hamlets are to be offered a free developmental training course in order to help them find a job.
Tool and equipment hire company HSS Hire is teaming up with City Gateway - a charity based in the London borough - to create the scheme.
From this month, youngsters who are not in education, employment or training can sign up to the programme to improve their customer service and professional skills.
In addition to four weeks of training, the course will include a six-week placement and chief executive of HSS Hire Chris Davies explained that the aim is to provide "real jobs for local people".
"The skills they learn will help equip them for the world of work and, if they do well during the placement, they have every chance of being offered a job," he added.
Last week it was confirmed that Tower Hamlets residents would benefit from Crossrail services, with plans for the Isle of Dogs station to be built in Canary Wharf being approved.
