Hillingdon to compete in Britain in Bloom 2012
People seeking flats to rent in Hillingdon will see the area representing London in the prestigious Britain in Bloom 2012 competition.
The borough is set to compete in the large city category at the Royal Horticultural Society-organised contest, which honours areas for their environmental responsibility, community participation and horticultural achievements.
Hillingdon has been selected to take part for the third consecutive year, having recently claimed the silver-gilt award in the same category at the London in Bloom awards.
Judging will take place over the summer, with Westminster the only other London borough to be chosen.
Jonathan Bianco, cabinet member for finance, property and business services for the London borough of Hillingdon, said: "I would like to congratulate our green spaces staff and all our residents who have put in an awful lot of hard graft to make the borough so green and inviting."
Last month, the council was granted support from the Heritage Lottery Fund to repair and improve the historic Eastcote House Gardens, a move that will help to beautify the area further.
