Harrow council plan for schools approved
Those with children living in Harrow could be set to benefit from improved education in the borough.
Proposals for West Lodge First School, located in Pinner, have been approved by the Office of the Schools Adjudicator.
The plans include the extension of the age range at the school, meaning it will cater for pupils between the ages of four and 12 from the beginning of next year.
Meanwhile West Lodge Middle School, also in Pinner, is to be closed to cater for an amalgamation.
The extension of the former institution's age range would see its capacity more than doubled - from 357 pupils to 746 - and adjudicator John Simpson noted that it would improve the school's performance.
He stated that an amalgamated school would flourish, with high levels of achievement and effective use of resources ensured.
Last week an Ofsted report hailed the success of five London boroughs, stating that inspection of their schools had revealed "outstanding" results over the last 15 years.
