Free London office space an "imaginative" move
The bid to attract foreign businesses to London by offering free office space has been described as an "imaginative" step.
London mayor Boris Johnson announced the measure last week, as he attempts to boost the capital's economy by bringing in more firms.
And Richard Kauntze, chief executive of the British Council for Offices, noted that it could prove to be a useful incentive.
The offer is for 12 months of space rent-free and he explained that it may help convince firms that London is "the place to be".
Describing the capital as possessing a "powerful combination" of opportunity and skills, Mr Kauntze added: "While times are tough, it unquestionably remains the world's city."
Mr Johnson announced the initiative at the Mipim property conference, as part of his Think London plan to convince a greater number of firms to relocate.
It followed a cost of living survey that showed London is now cheaper than New York for the first time since 2002.
