Mayor welcomes carbon reduction efforts
Businesses in London have been praised for making further reductions to the capital's carbon emissions.
Mayor Boris Johnson hosted an event for companies signed up to Green500 programme, which is designed to provide support for those taking steps to cut emissions.
There are currently 154 members of the scheme and Mr Johnson singled out 17 that have drawn up detailed plans since the launch last year - with Boots and Chelsea Football Club among them.
"An attractive, less polluted city is a place where people will want to live, work and visit," said Mr Johnson, adding that exploiting environmentally-friendly technology is a "key part of my vision to help London through the downturn".
Last month Transport for London revealed that the capital's environment had been improved by a number of new measures, with carbon dioxide emissions per Tube passenger found to have been lowered by five per cent in 2008.
