Flats to rent in London: Electric vehicles charging scheme set for launch
A project to install more than 1,300 new charging points for electric vehicles in the capital has started, which may offer another reason for eco-friendly drivers to live in flats to rent in London.
The Greater London Authority pointed out that the charging points which will make up the Source London network will soon start to be installed in the city, which Transport for London has appointed Siemens to manage.
Through the initiative, at least 1,300 charging stations will be created in London at a range of partner sites, such as Sainsbury's and Asda stores, NCP car parks, sites owned by Capital Shopping Centres and points run by Scottish and Southern Energy.
Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, commented: "By giving increasing numbers of drivers the confidence in electric vehicle technology, we will make a considerable contribution to improving our air quality and cutting carbon emissions."
Back in December, Mr Johnson launched a £1 million fund to encourage taxi drivers in London to make greater use of electric cars.
