Can bike security influence rental decision?
Green-minded Britons may be keen to jump on their bicycle in order to commute to work in the capital, which may mean that security is a particular concern when looking for flats to rent in Islington or another part of London.
Peter Walker, in an article for the Guardian, claims that he is now lucky enough to live somewhere where he can store his wheels in a garage but a previous address lacked such security, forcing him to store his bike in the "unusually spacious" kitchen.
He was commenting on a statement from Estate Agent Ludlow Thompson, which noted: "Cyclists prefer not to leave their bike chained up on the street. When renting a flat in converted houses, cyclists often ask if they can leave their bicycle in the shared hallway."
Britons considering renting a home in the city may also wish to ensure that they remember to ask their potential landlord of what measures are in place to ensure their bike is not at risk of damage or theft.
By purchasing a bike, people may find that it is a quick and easy journey to get to work from Islington, rather than taking the Tube.
