Date set for Westfield grand opening
October 30th has been confirmed as the date of the grand opening of the Westfield shopping centre in West London.
Spanning an unbelievable 144,000 sq metres, the £1.6 billion development will become the largest urban-area shopping centre in Europe when it opens its doors this autumn.
A host of major high-street names have already begun kitting out their stores ahead of the launch, with Debenhams, House of Fraser and Marks & Spencer all securing some of the largest plots in the four-storey site.
Michael Gutman, managing director for Westfield UK & Europe, commented: "We expect Debenhams to be extremely successful in this new location. This follows their successful opening at Westfield Derby last year and their plans to anchor our Nottingham and Bradford developments."
Fashion retailers Top Shop, River Island, Next and H&M have also secured land in the four-storey site - as have a number of recognised eateries such as Wagamama and Leon.
The development will even see the construction of two new Tube connections, Wood Lane on the Hammersmith and City Line, and Shepherd's Bush on the London Overground.
