Westway Climbing Centre receives Mayor's funding
Climbing enthusiasts in flats to rent the London borough of Hammersmith & Fulham may benefit from new funding announced by the mayor of London.
Boris Johnson revealed that White City's Westway Climbing Centre, which is the only combined climbing and bouldering facility in the UK, has been awarded £42,000 through the Mayor's Sports Legacy Fund.
The funding will allow the centre, which is run by charity and social enterprise Westway Development Trust, to replace one of its bouldering walls and encourage more Londoners to become physically active.
In addition, the expansion will create enhanced training facilities for competitors in the 2012 London Olympic and Games Paralympic Games.
Mr Johnson commented: "This fantastic centre offers a taste of mountaineering in the heart of West London and I am sure it will allow many Londoners to reach new heights."
Last month, Hammersmith & Fulham Council announced that new sports facilities are to be built at Hammersmith Park.
