Redbridge Council reveals road improvement programme progress
People living in property to rent in Redbridge may be interested to hear how the local council has spent more than £250,000 on road repairs.
As part of a £200 million programme across the City of London to repair the highways following problems caused by the severe winter weather in late 2010, a total of £269,773 has been allocated to the borough.
So far, the council has completed resurfacing work in Lord Avenue, Herent Drive, Abbotswood Gardens and Oriel Gardens in Clayhall.
Currently, improvements are being made in Mayfield, before the team moves on to work on roads in Bridge, Hainault, Aldborough, Fairlop, Goodmayes and Seven Kings later this year.
"Large numbers of pothole and surface repairs have been carried out by our contractor's highway patching gangs to the borough's road network post winter to keep the network safe," the council stated.
Last week, it was revealed that primary school pupils in Redbridge were in the top 15 per cent of all 152 local authorities in England and Wales in terms of their results in English.
