Solar panels to be installed in Islington
People living in flats to rent in the London borough of Islington will soon see solar panels installed in their local area.
Islington Council is to form partnerships to install these energy producing products on buildings that it owns, at no cost to the council or taxpayers.
The electricity generated by these products will mean that residents will pay less in service charges.
Councillor Paul Smith, Islington Council's executive member for environment, said: "We're on the side of our residents in tough times and want to help them as they face soaring energy bills."
He went on to say that the money the council raises from its partners will be used to tackle fuel poverty in the borough.
Last month, work started on creating a new carbon-neutral school for Ashmount Primary and improved community facilities in Islington.
Ashmount School, which is currently based in Archway, is to be relocated to a brand new building in Crouch Hill Park.
