Obama invited to Southwark
Those living in the borough of Southwark may find their area benefits from an increase in publicity thanks to an invitation extended to Barack Obama to come and visit.
Following his victory in the presidential election, the council has said it will offer an invite to Mr Obama to visit the borough when he next comes to London, London SE1 reports.
Council leader Nick Stanton confirmed the intention to invite Mr Obama in response to a question from another councillor.
Barack Obama is a graduate of Harvard University, which is named after its 17th century benefactor John Harvard, who was born in Southwark.
Such a visit could help raise the profile of the borough and may attract US investment to the area.
Barack Obama, who graduated from the Harvard Law School in 1991, was the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review.
