High-speed rail to link London and Birmingham
People looking for property to rent in London may be interested by news that the government has included a promise to build a Nationwide high-speed rail network.
The system, should it be built, is expected to significantly reduce travel times between destinations.
Supporting notes to the Queen's Speech revealed that a bill is to be introduced in parliament for a route to be built from London to Birmingham, with an estimated cost of around £17 billion.
This follows the latest contract award for construction of part of the Crossrail network in the east of the city.
A joint venture between Costain and Skanska secured the deal to build the stretch of track near the Stratford area.
News of investment in a UK high-speed rail link between Birmingham and the capital, potentially reducing travel times significantly, may encourage more people to consider looking for property to rent in the London borough of Waltham Forest or elsewhere in the city.
