Spitalfields combines festival and finance
The Spitalfields area of East London is already known as one of the capital's most vibrant and up-and-coming spots, but the area is now granted further interest by current winter events.
The Spitalfields Winter Festival is now in full flow, with the annual event providing locals and visitors from across London with a range of musical Christmas events.
Events range from bell-ringing to gospel workshops and take place in the restored Christ Church, only a stone's throw from the buzzing Spitalfields Market, itself refurbished this year and now reopened to the public.
While cultural events abound in Spitalfields, the area's range of modernised rental property also benefits from close access to the City of London – and the wealth of jobs it offers.
A key area linking the City to the adjoining Spitalfields area in the refurbished Bishops Square, with real estate company Hammerson now agreeing final payment terms for of the City of London Corporation's long leasehold interest in the square.
John Richards, chief executive of Hammerson, said: "Bishops Square has been a highly profitable development. It has transformed the Spitalfields area adjoining the City, regenerating a key site and acting as a catalyst for further investment in the area."
