New market for Westminster
A councillor in the City of Westminster has said he is pleased the borough is to get its first new street market in 50 years.
Westminster City councillor Steve Summers told the Evening Standard today it made a change from markets being threatened with closure, commenting: "I'm delighted that in Westminster we're opening the first new regular market for 50 years."
Residents looking to rent in the borough who enjoy shopping in such places may be interested to learn that the Prince of Wales market is to open on Harrow Road at Christmas, with 17 stalls selling fresh food, household goods and clothing.
It will open until eight in the evening on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The proposals had been reported last week by the London Informer, which noted that the market will be on the corner where Harrow Road joins Elgin Avenue.
Westbourne Park on the Hammersmith & City Line is the nearest Underground stop.
