Area Comments
A vast range of places to live are available in the large, varied town of Hounslow.
Hounslow is very much of itself - this is a town that happens to be attached to London rather than a suburb. And it's a town on the grow, as more people are attracted to its mix of services and accommodation, and is regenerating nicely.
A large pedestrianised high street leads to a huge area of shopping and places to eat. Large high street names sit alongside more local stores en route to the Treaty Centre, where along with the typical mix of stores, cafes etc there's a good town library. The redevelopment of Hounslow includes larger supermarkets and a good-sized multiplex cinema. Further our towards Heathrow boroughs like Feltham and Hanworth are also being rapidly developed.
Of course, Hounslow includes within its governmental borders some very salubrious areas such as Chiswick and Isleworth. But Hounslow itself in terms of housing is very much a suburban town. There are good streets of semi detached houses, mostly from the mid-war period, as well as flats near the centre. In the town centre as well there are good Victorian terraces providing a mixture of large and medium-sized houses. Some of the most exciting accelerations in housing are going on in the Feltham area, which at the moment are offering mostly mid-war semis - more competitive than Hounslow itself. Redevelopment will revamp these areas, providing modern housing to sit alongside the mid-war semidetached houses that typify the area.
With a huge amount of money going into Hounslow both in terms of housing and facilities, it's fast becoming a choice not just for those who want to be on the west, but for anyone who needs to be near London without the sting of the prices.
