Area Comments

Sitting neatly between London and Kent, Bexley takes its character from the Thames and from the Garden of England, both in terms of being a place to live, and a place to visit.

A great living solution for families and for commuters, Bexley provides excellent space and sits in the catchment area of some of the best schools in the country. But its property doesn't push the sky-high, unlike many in good schools districts, and is instead uniformly competitive for its size and amenity.

Like many areas of South London, Bexley combines a village feel with a gateway atmosphere, as its extremely good transport links provide anyone living here with a quick getaway to Kent and the Coast, and into the centre of town.

Being a commuter favourite as well as having a pleasant village ambience in which to bring up kids combine to keep Bexley property at a healthy price. The property includes some very fine Edwardian terraces and some large semis which line the route of the River Cray; however the main body of the area's housing consists of Victorian workers' cottages - which are found in the village centre, and which are now principally occupied by young families. As space opens out however towards Bexleyheath, the region features some larger properties and modern developments.

Bexley is a quiet village, and residents seeking a hot night life are more likely to spill into the areas around it - Greenwich, Dartford, Bromley or heading into town. It is however filled with family-friendly restaurants and fine pubs.

Predominately a residential village whose amenities are geared towards families and couples, Bexley is a calm and peaceful place to live, yet provides unrivalled access to London and the Southeast, meaning that you can enjoy a day out in the country, have a night on the town, and still be home within a few minutes. With affordable, yet still substantial, comfortable homes up for grabs, you'd do well to view any properties quickly.
