Letting Agents in Highgate London N6
Area Comments
A truly wonderful, genteel and old-world place to live, Highgate's amazing position, and the quality of its housing, make it one of the finest areas in London to be and one of the jewels of the North.
From the top of Highgate Hill you can see, well, pretty much all of London. It spreads beneath you like a blanket and makes one feel utterly separate from the city. Highgate is a place of lovely streets and excellent restaurants, a real café society where the upmarket populace mix and chat, and shop in splendid little boutiques. This is the closest you will come to Hampstead in many ways, but in others it's preferable - more relaxed, less showy, more of a real community, more understated, with planning rigorously controlled by its residents committee in a similar way.
Property here is a mix of Edwardian and Victorian, and everything is seriously sought after, whatever style or level it's at. Terraces of houses drift away from the (quiet) main streets; there are lovely cottages and little mews streets offering superb family homes. As well as this, there are beautiful conversions and maisonettes, robustly but not absurdly priced, as well as some (very sensitively constructed) modern apartments.
One of the nicest places in London to live, Highgate is extremely green, walks for kids and adults alike are easily had in the nearby woods, Alexandra Park and in the Cemetery, and life is generally very fine.
