Area Feature
Finsbury Park is fast becoming a popular place to live in London and is attracting a new generation of young professionals and families. With its close location to the City and Islington, it is a great place to live for those that wish to be within easy travel distance of a range of activities and work opportunities.
While in the past the area was seen as a bit rough, like many areas of the capital, Finsbury Park is really coming into its own and enticing many people that want easy transportation to the wider city and a great outdoor area on their doorstep.
The area
Finsbury Park is located in the borough of Haringey, close to the ever popular Crouch End and Stoke Newington. While the majority of the area is taken up with a good range of housing options, residents benefit from having the largest park in the area within a very short walk.
As well as a great outdoor area with a number of amenities and activities, Finsbury Park also has a good number of quality pubs and restaurants, meaning residents don't have to travel into the City for a good evening out. You'll also meet a wide range of people, as the area is incredibly diverse and has a younger generation moving in to revitalise the place.
Places to go
Although Finsbury Park is mostly made up of housing, Stroud Green Road offers some good little shops and great takeaways. As the area is so culturally diverse, you'll find that there are a number of cuisines you can try, all of which are incredibly tasty.
Although there aren't that many clothes shops in the area, as it is so easy to travel into the City, you'll find that it doesn't matter much. With a short bus or Tube ride you are able to make the most of what London has to offer, before popping back home to a much quieter area.
Finsbury Park is very much a pub area rather than a club area and there isn't much of a nightlife. However the pubs on offer are great and there are a number of different types to choose from so you'll have plenty of variety. Many of the pubs also have a brilliant community feel, so you are able to meet a few of the other residents on a regular occasion. The summer also brings with it a few festivals so you are able to enjoy a pint outside with some good music.
All Arsenal fans will be happy as Finsbury Park is just a stone's throw away from the Emirates football stadium, making it easy to get to matches. However, the area gets incredibly busy on game days, so if you are not a football fan you may want to avoid it.
Where to live
The housing on offer within Finsbury Park is just as varied as its inhabitants. As well as apartments and smaller properties, the area boasts some beautiful Victorian terraced houses. While rent prices continue to increase - especially as you get closer to Crouch End or the station - the majority of the area is very reasonable. This means you can get a good sized property within easy reach of the rest of the city without breaking the bank.
