Very popular still with families keen to stay within a convenient distance of the centre of town, Colindale is affordable, connected and becoming more gentrified.
Colindale is a thriving and multicultural area, whose popularity because of its extreme closeness to the West End is still unmatched by huge increases in property prices.
A large number of institutions have historically made their home in Colindale, primarily because of this ease of access and cheap land prices. The British Library's Newspaper Library is here, as is the RAF Museum, both of which attract casual visitors. A strong Asian community is represented here, as the nearby Oriental City shopping centre attests, but in truth this is a very multicultural area.
Property in Colindale is composed of some Victorian and 1930s houses, and a considerable amount of relatively new-build properties and blocks. Of course, many houses have been subdivided providing a good number of flats.
There are a lot of great local Asian restaurants (as well as Oriental City for those who really love Japanese, Indonesian and other cuisines) and a good number of local pubs. Most nightlife is found across the North Circular as the A5 heads into Edgware, but the West End is extremely close as well.
Colindale property is a mélange and there is a huge range available. As more and more families and professionals push out beyond Edgware and Cricklewood, Colindale is picking up, and properties here whilst affordable need to be viewed quickly.
