Whitechapel High Street to be revamped
People living in property to rent in the London borough of Tower Hamlets will be able to enjoy an improved High Street in Whitechapel in the not-so-distant future.
Tower Hamlets Council and community and project partners English Heritage, Transport for London and Design for London at the London Development Agency have developed the £11 million High Street 2012 Programme.
This will see High Street, which will be the main thoroughfare between Central London and the Olympic Park, fully revamped.
Lutfur Rahman, the mayor of Tower Hamlets, said: "The High Street 2012 programme is just one of the ways in which I'm trying to maximise the benefits and opportunities that residents will gain from hosting one of the greatest sporting events on earth."
Earlier this month, the council launched a poster design competition which gives young people in the borough a chance to win a pair of tickets to the 2012 Olympics.
