Tree-planting scheme scheduled for Brent area
Those looking for flats to rent in Brent might like the sound of an upcoming community scheme in the area.
To celebrate the start of National Tree Week, Groundwork London and Friends of Brent River Park have organised a planting event and volunteers are encouraged to go and help out.
Some 420 trees from the Woodland Trust will be placed on an embankment near the North Circular Road on the morning of November 26th and it is hoped they will provide various benefits.
These include noise, carbon and pollution absorption, contributing to an overall healthier and greener Brent, the local council explains.
Various types of young trees have been donated, including wild cherry, oak and hawthorn. Each is about two feet in height.
Along with its participation in National Tree Week - which runs until December 4th - the area recently announced other efforts it has made to be more eco-friendly.
The council says recycling rates have increased by up to 50 per cent since October 3rd, when it introduced a new waste service.
