Tenants in flats to rent in London could benefit by being energy-efficient
People occupying flats to rent in London could benefit if the government does more to encourage the introduction of energy-efficient measures into homes.
Daniel Green, chief executive of Home Sun, said the coalition's focus on improving a property's carbon footprint is a good move.
He noted that more can be done to encourage those who are apprehensive about the return an implementation of energy-saving devices can offer.
"People are very concerned about their initial outlay, even though the long-term benefit will be substantial," Mr Green stated.
The more the government can do to help cover an individual's costs, the more likely someone is to invest in a residence, he added.
According to the Department of Energy and Climate Change, the coalition's new Green Deal scheme offers a radical new approach in making energy-efficiency available for all.
The legislation will benefit those who rent their own property and the work carried out on a home will be paid back through savings on bills.
