Residents in Haringey set to benefit from new waste services
Haringey Council has announced it will be improving the waste collection services in the area.
Residents living in flats to rent in the London borough of Haringey will benefit from greener, cleaner waste disposal services.
The council has taken on Veolia Environment Services, which will be in charge of collections from April.
It will be integrating the refuse and recycling initiatives provided by the council and will offer a new kind of street cleaning service as well.
Councillor Nilgun Canver, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said the new contract will help Haringey achieve carbon reduction targets which will aid the council's "greenest borough ambitions" and save money.
He added it "will bring a cleaner, greener Haringey with improvements in street cleaning, recycling and refuse collection as well as a £2 million-a-year saving".
Recently, Haringey Council announced it was putting the most vulnerable residents in the borough at the heart of its Budget this year.
