Rental property focus for BPF conference
Rental property in crowded areas like London will be the topic of the day when the The British Property Federation (BPF) holds its annual residential conference on February 5th.
Featuring keynote speakers from local government and the charitable sector, the conference will focus on the performance of the professional rented sector and its role in the future, in a bid to tackle the government's target of building three million new homes.
Analysing the rebirth of the rental since the Housing Act 1988, the event will likely reiterate the importance of rental property in modern-day London, where house prices would otherwise prevent many from residing in the capital.
Ian Fletcher, BPF director for residential policy, said: "With housing now firmly at the top of the political agenda we're expecting this year's event to have an added sense significance.
"The property market is continuing to evolve and we believe the professional rented sector has an important role to play in meeting the government's significant housing challenges."
He added that delivering 240,000 homes per year was a tough challenge, but indicated that the ideas of the event's prominent panelists could help demonstrate how the professional rented sector can help ease the strain.
