Property website MD stands up for tenants
Those who live in property to rent in London, as well as people in residences in other parts of the UK, have been supported by the managing director of buy-to-let services website Smartlandlord.co.uk.
Keshav Thukaram has claimed that tenants who have paid their rent in good faith should not suffer as a result of their landlords facing repossession.
His comments come after the Communities and Local Government department announced measures this week that aim to help people living in property to rent in London and elsewhere when landlords default on their mortgages.
A consultation period over the coming months - it is open from now until October 14th 2009 - will allow the government to address the problems caused by such a scenario.
"We ... welcome this important step to stabilise the private rented sector, to ensure that tenants don't fall victim to mismanagement by hapless private landlords," said Mr Thukaram.
