Lettings group puts focus on the tenant
The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) has reiterated the importance of looking after tenants of property to rent in London and the UK.
Citing recent reports that the number of houses and flats to rent in London and the rest of the country increased last year, the association said it is necessary to keep standards for customers high.
Operations manager at ARLA Ian Potter commented: "Many rental properties are old, in some cases very old, and therefore likely to be in need of some kind of improvement in condition."
If the government was to make landlords exempt from some property taxes, they may be able to make improvements to homes that will be beneficial to tenants.
A recent study from Savills Research found student demand for property to rent in London is growing.
Property Wire reported that demand for such accommodation is outpacing the growth in student housing by a factor of 15 in the capital.
