Industry group echoes EPC warning
Yet another firm operating in the rental sector has voiced concerns that landlords are not adequately prepared for new environmental legislation.
Easier2move is warning that a significant proportion of buy-to-let investors are unaware that they will need Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for all their properties from October 1st.
The eco-documents are intended to make it easier for prospective tenants to assess the energy efficiency of properties - but according to the firm several advisers and London Letting Agents have failed to notify landlords about their necessity.
Commenting on the benefits of the documents, Easier2move director Robin Marcus explained: "With EPCs becoming compulsory on all private rented properties from October 1st this year, lettings will be bought in line with sales, showing that the government is making a step in the right direction to improving the energy efficiency of all properties within the UK."
Just last week, the National Landlords Association said that unprepared landlords faced £500 million in penalties if they fail to prepare for the changes to the law.
