Individuals looking for flats to rent in London may wish to act quickly
People looking to take up a tenancy in a flat to rent in London may want to secure an establishment at the earliest possible opportunity, following comments from one expert.
"Competition is fierce for high quality rental properties and applicants are now discovering there is a pecking order in the queue," stated Lynn Hilton, partner for residential lettings at property consultants Cluttons.
According to the firm, a shortage of accommodation to rent in the capital is allowing landlords to pick who they want to live in their homes.
It added that those who are least likely to cause damage to a flat to rent, or who have a job with secure prospects, may be granted access to a property ahead of others.
Earlier this week, spokesman for the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Jeremy Leaf noted that there may be several people competing for a home to let due to them not having the necessary finance to buy a home.
