Harrow named Best Achieving Council
More people may seek to move to property to rent in the London borough of Harrow as the local council has just been named the Best Achieving Council in the UK.
The council was given this title at the MJ Local Government Achievement Awards 2011.
It was selected by a panel of judges for the sustained change that it has delivered using a modern approach.
The council was also commended for not losing sight of its priorities, which are topped by its residents.
Councillor Bill Stephenson, leader of Harrow Council, said: "Working together with residents and the entire community, we are transforming Harrow Council to improve the services our residents rely on and deliver the savings that government cuts demand."
Last week, the council announced that it has been working with private landlords to bring empty properties back into use, creating more property to rent in the London borough of Harrow.
