Green Deal could benefit individuals in flats to rent in London
Government proposals as part of a new Green Deal scheme could lead to flats to rent in London becoming more energy-efficient.
David Salusbury, chairman of the National Landlords Association, said the system will give property owners opportunities to make their residences greener, play a part in tackling climate change and also help tenants to reduce their utility bills.
"The Green Deal should provide landlords with an innovative new avenue to invest in their properties, creating warmer, greener houses while simultaneously improving the fabric of the private rented housing stock," he added.
Mr Salusbury stated his organisation will be looking forward to working alongside the Department for Energy and Climate Change over the coming months to make sure landlords are assisted in negating the impact of their property on the environment.
The scheme is designed to help UK building stock with the implementation of energy-efficient measures without incurring increased upfront costs, in order to help the country cut its carbon emissions output.
