Free compost giveaway in Harrow
Free compost is being given to those living in properties to rent in the London borough of Harrow and owner-occupied housing in the area.
Harrow Council is giving 20 tonnes of the material away to mark National Compost Awareness Week.
The compost, supplied by West London Composting, will be available on a first-come first-served basis from 09:00 BST tomorrow (Wednesday May 4th) in the car park at Roxeth Recreation Ground.
It will also be given away on Thursday at the Carlton Avenue car park at Kenton Recreation Ground.
Councillor Phillip O'Dell, portfolio holder for environment and community safety at Harrow Council, said that composting has many benefits.
"It takes very little effort but diverts waste from landfill sites, which saves us all money and makes Harrow a greener place to live," he explained.
Those who enjoy getting out and about may also be interested to learn that a new outdoor gym opened in Kenton Recreation Ground, Harrow, last month.
