Flats to rent in London wiser than moving abroad?
flats to rent in London may become more popular as one expert has revealed people are often unhappy after buying property abroad.
BuyAssociation editor Paul Collins described some of the problems expats go through.
"People find that they tend to miss their families more than they thought they would. That they don't fit into the local culture in the same way that they thought they would," he said, explaining that personal situations can be a huge pitfall.
Other reasons people might be dissatisfied include living in isolated areas without local shops and leisure facilities within easy reach, or finding it hard to access healthcare when needed.
This is a particular problem for people who retire overseas, he added, commenting that many people also run into legal issues when buying a property abroad as they do not use an independent lawyer and often do not consider that their UK benefits may change.
Research published this week by insurance company Standard Life found that Spain is the most popular retirement destination for Brits.
