First-time buyers 'need more government help'
first-time buyers in the UK are in need of government help in their quest to purchase their first home, according to one property expert.
Paul Collins editor of BuyAssociation.co.uk said that this group of house hunters are the "most in need" of assistance from political leaders.
He called for strategies to be implemented by the government that he commented should include greater assurances from the financial sector to lend more money to first-time buyers.
However, the expert noted that only when the current political uncertainty is cleared up will the housing market and mortgage movement begin to improve.
This follows recent data from the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries who warned of an increase in the cost of home loans while the Budget deficit was still an issue of concern.
Mr Collins' assessment that first-time buyers needed greater assistance from the next government may encourage more people to consider looking for property to rent in the London borough of Hertsmere or elsewhere in the country.
