Emergency cover 'never a bad idea' for landlords
Landlords with flats to rent in London and elsewhere have been reminded of the importance of securing adequate protection for their properties.
Tom Entwistle, editor of LandlordZone.co.uk, said that "it is always a good idea" for buy-to-let investors to take out emergency assistance and breakdown cover.
He went on to recommend that landlords explore the possibility of investing in rent guarantee insurance, which can help minimise losses when a property unexpectedly becomes vacant.
"It is always a good idea to have emergency cover and a lot of landlords do use that because it makes it easier for them to manage," Mr Entwistle explained.
He continued: "The other thing they can take out is rent guarantee insurance. If they are worried that they might lose tenants it offers protection against rent arrears."
According to the Association of Residential Letting Agents, the proportion of Letting Agents reporting surplus demand for property to rent in London and elsewhere is at a historically high level.
