Could flats to rent be popular as Brits don't want to buy?
More people could be looking at flats to rent in the London borough of Brent as a new survey has revealed many Brits do not think now is the right time to buy a property.
Conducted by the Building Societies Association (BSA), the September 2010 BSA Property Tracker Survey found 26 per cent of respondents did not think now is a good time for house purchases.
This is compared to 21 per cent who thought the same thing in June, with a lack of job security and difficulties raising a deposit given by many people as their reasons for this.
Head of mortgage policy at the BSA Paul Broadhead said employment worries are likely to remain until an upturn in the economy.
"It is clear that concerns about future falls in property prices are having a significant impact on consumer confidence," he added.
The National Housing Federation recently claimed the average age of first-time buyers is likely to rise to 43.
