Buy-to-let property survey published
Smartlandlord.co.uk has published its buy-to-let Index for May and it suggested that the average property price in the UK during the month was £696.
property to rent in London was significantly higher than the average, but people generally pay more to live in what many observers perceive as one of the biggest and most exciting cities in the world.
Another trend noted by the research was the higher proportion of tenants who are students compared to one year ago.
Whereas students made up 1.1 per cent of the tenants market in May 2008, the figure is now 5.8 per cent.
Rising unemployment in the UK was given as the reason for this particular increase. Indeed, earlier today it was announced that the number of people without jobs in the country recently exceeded 2.26 million.
Managing director of Smartlandlord.co.uk Keshav Thukaram said it is currently a "perfect time" for landlords to invest in bricks and mortar.
