Students 'need accredited landlords' when finding flats to rent
Students looking for flats to rent in the City of London have been advised to always go through an accredited landlord when choosing accommodation.
Aaron Porter, president of the National Union of Students, said those looking for somewhere to stay while they are studying should also check the quality of the property and go over the small print on the contract.
Another thing to take into account when considering flats to rent is the prices, which Mr Porter urged students to compare in order to get the best deals.
He said those in education are being "proportionally affected" by the rising cost of living, which will also "pile additional pressure on them and their budgets, often forcing them to rely on family and friends for bailouts".
Earlier this month, Lloyds TSB revealed 60 per cent of university towns across the UK have seen the growth in house prices outperform the rest of the area over the past five years
